Description

Connect Directly to the Network

As a standalone IP endpoint, the 8212 can be deployed wherever a network connection is available, providing independent device management, direct SIP registration, and device-level monitoring. The two buttons can be independently configured to initiate separate actions, often deployed as an operational call and an emergency alert. If either button is configured as a panic button, the Algo Device Management Platform (ADMP) can provide centralized visibility into device status, connectivity, and operational readiness.

Confirm Status with Multi-Color Illumination

Configurable multi-color illumination and flash patterns show that the buttons are operational and confirm when a press has been detected. Visual feedback helps users identify the button state and understand when a communication or alert workflow has been initiated.

Identify and Protect the Button

The 8212 features two independently configurable buttons that can initiate separate actions, making it suitable for everyday alerts and emergency response workflows. Selectable faceplate labels support clear identification by location, workflow, language, or response type, while optional protective covers help prevent unintentional button presses.

Important Safety Information

DRY INDOOR LOCATION ONLY

The 8211/8212 are intended for indoor dry locations only. Contact Algo support for applications in outdoor or wet environments.

No wiring connected to the 8211/8212 may leave the building perimeter without adequate lightning protection.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

This device is not intended to function as a standalone life safety or mass notification system. It is designed as a network-dependent endpoint that may form part of a broader communication or alerting solution when integrated with complementary systems, infrastructure, and operational processes.

Operation of this device is inherently dependent on network availability, power continuity, configuration accuracy, and the performance of associated third-party hardware, software, and services. As such, system performance may be impacted by factors outside of Algo Communication Products Ltd.’s control, including but not limited to network outages, latency, misconfiguration, interoperability limitations, or failure of integrated systems.

Customers are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability of this device within their specific use case, including any life safety or emergency communication requirements, and for implementing appropriate redundancies, testing procedures, and failover mechanisms. This device should not be relied upon as the sole or primary means of emergency notification without a comprehensive understanding of the risks associated with IP-based communication systems.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Algo Communication Products Ltd. disclaims all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use, misuse, or inability to use this device, including any failure of the device itself or any integrated systems. Algo does not warrant or guarantee performance in critical situations, particularly where such performance depends on third-party components or environmental conditions beyond its control.

FAQs

How does the Algo 8312 connect handheld radios to an overhead paging system?

The Algo 8312 connects to an analog amplifier through its line-level audio output and to a compatible donor radio. A SIP announcement can then be distributed through both the overhead paging system and the radio network.

What is the difference between the 8312 and 8301?

The Algo 8312 shares the same form factor as the Algo 8301 Paging Adapter & Scheduler and builds on many of the same core capabilities, including:

  • SIP-based paging
  • Amplifier integration
  • Smart relay control
  • Built-in scheduling
  • RESTful API support
  • Music streaming
  • Algo Device Management Platform (ADMP) supervision

What differentiates the 8312 is three additional capabilities that support more advanced communication and automation workflows:

  • Base-station-free handheld radio integration: Connects to a compatible donor radio, activates its push-to-talk function, and transmits SIP audio across the peer-to-peer radio network.
  • Twelve configurable sensor inputs: Enables external devices such as buttons, switches, contact closures, and sensors to trigger automated communication workflows.
  • USB port: Provides flexibility to support additional capabilities in the future.

Can I use the 8312 with radio systems that have a base station?

Although it may be possible to use the 8312 with radio systems that have a base station or control unit, the Algo 8301 Paging Adapter & Scheduler  is generally the preferred, more cost-effective solution for those deployments.
