Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes how Algo Communication Products Ltd. (“Algo”, “we”, “us”, “our”) may collect, use, disclose, retain, dispose, and otherwise process (collectively, “process”) the personal information that you provide to us as a user of our Products (defined below), Design Services (defined below), Cloud Services (defined below), Support Services (defined below) and our “Website” at algosolutions.com (collectively, the “Services”). This Policy also details how you may correct, update, and access your personal information in our control.
We design and manufacture communication endpoints such as speakers, intercoms, paging adapters, displays, visual alerters and alarms (the “Products”). Algo offers cloud based Product management solutions that enable our customers to manage multiple Products across their network (the “Cloud Services”). We also provide design services to create custom IP audio and visual systems (“AV Systems”) which leverage our Products and Cloud Services as well as certain third party products and services (the “Design Services”). In addition, we provide technical support services in relation to our Products and Cloud Services (“Support Services”).
Algo works with a global network of distributors, resellers, and integrators to provide our Services (“Our Partners”). This Policy applies whether you have purchased Services directly from us or through one of Our Partners.
Please read this Policy carefully. By purchasing or using our Services (whether directly through us or through one of Our Partners), or otherwise by choosing to provide us with your personal information, you acknowledge and consent to the processing of your personal information in accordance with this Policy and as may be further identified to you when your personal information is collected. If you purchase or use our Services on behalf of a company, business, or other legal entity, then you represent that you have the authority to contractually bind that entity and in which case the terms “you” and “your” will refer to such entity.
We are based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. If you are located or reside outside of British Columbia, please be aware that the privacy laws and principles in British Columbia may differ and not offer the same level of protection as those in your home jurisdiction. Through your continued use of our Services you are transferring your personal information to British Columbia and other jurisdictions within Canada and you expressly consent to that transfer.
All capitalized terms not otherwise defined herein have the meaning provided in our Terms of Service. The current version of our Terms of Service is available here.
If you are purchasing or using certain Services as director, officer, employee, member, contractor or agent of an organization that has entered into a separate agreement with Algo for such Services (each, a “Service Agreement”), then your use of those Services is governed by that Service Agreement.
If you do not agree with the processing of your personal information in accordance with this Policy, please do not purchase, access, or continue to use any aspect of the Services or otherwise provide any personal information to us.
Definitions
“business contact information” means information that enables an individual to be contacted at work, including his/her name, title, business address, business telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address.
“employee personal information” means personal information about an employee that is collected, used, or disclosed solely for the purposes reasonably required to establish, manage, or terminate an employment relationship, but does not include other personal information about the employee.
“personal information” means any information that personally identifies an individual, but does not include business contact information or work product information.
“work product information” means information prepared or collected by an individual or group of individuals as part of their employment or business responsibilities or activities related to their employment or business.
Responsibility
We are responsible for all personal information under our control, even if it is not in our possession. We have developed policies and procedures to deal with the proper collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
The Personal Information We Collect
The types of information we receive and collect depends on how you use our Services. We require certain information to deliver our Services and without this we will not be able to provide the Services. Our Services have optional features which, if used, requires us to collect and process additional information to provide such features. If you choose not to provide the personal information needed to use a feature, you will be unable to use the feature.
Directly Collected Personal Information. When you contact us or use our Services, we may collect the following personal information from you:
- contact information such as name, email address, mailing address, and phone number;
- unique identifiers such as username, account number, and password;
- payment information; and
- other personal information that you provide to us.
Your personal information may be directly collected by us when you:
- contact us;
- register for an account with us;
- purchase Services from us or one of Our Partners;
- use the features of our Services; and
- interact with us through the Services, including through our Cloud Services.
Collection from Third Parties. We may collect personal information from third-party sources, such as Our Partners, public databases, joint marketing partners, social media platforms, or other third parties. For example:
- We may receive lead and prospect information from Our Partners and other third parties about prospective customers that may be interested in our Services. We may also engage with Our Partners and other third parties to enhance or update our customer information.
- If you post information about us or engage with us on third-party platforms or choose to log in to our Services with a third-party account (e.g., Google) or link a third-party account to your Algo account, we may collect personal information about you from that third-party platform or account. These third-party platforms and services control the information they collect and share about you. The personal information about you that we receive from third parties is covered by this Policy, while their processing of your personal information is covered by their privacy policy. For information about how they may use and disclose your personal information please consult their respective privacy policies.
Personal Information Collected Automatically. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we automatically collect personal information related to the use of our Services and interactions with us and others, including information we collect automatically via our Website (e.g., via using cookies and pixel tags), as well as information we derive about you and your use of the Services. Such information includes:
- Device and browsing information. We use cookies, log files, pixel tags, and other tracking technologies to automatically collect information when users access or use our Services, such as IP address, location information, domain name, page views, a date/time stamp, browser type, device type, device ID, browser and device configurations and settings, Internet service provider, referring and exiting URLs, operating system, language, clickstream data, and similar device and usage information. We do not collect information from device local memory unless you have configured your Product to enable remote management; for clarity this feature is sometimes referred to as “Allow Configuration File Sync”. If such feature is enabled, we will only collect and process information from device local memory to the extent necessary to provide the Services as you have configured it.
- Activities and usage. We may also collect activity information related to the use of the Services, such as information about the links clicked, searches, features used, items viewed, time spent within the Services, content uploaded or viewed (and metadata associated with that content), settings changed, device configurations, and other interactions within the Services.
- Location information. We may collect or derive location information about you, such as through your IP address. Further, with your permission, we may collect geolocation information from your device. You may turn off location data sharing through your device settings.
- Recordings. Our Cloud Services integrate with the endpoints of your AV System which may include our Products and/or third party hardware which are capable of recording audio or video. It is technically feasible for you or us to view live audio or video captured by any such endpoints using our Cloud Services. Algo does not collect, access, or download recordings from the local memory of such endpoints with your prior authorization.
Purposes
We collect personal information for the following purposes:
- to individualize your experience on our Website;
- to communicate with you;
- to facilitate your use of our Services;
- to analyze user experience and improve the Services;
- to protect our Services and our business operations;
- to comply with applicable law and our legal obligations;
- to provide you with support regarding the Services;
- to be able to selectively send you marketing communications that may be of interest to you, either electronically or otherwise; and
- any other purpose with your consent or as may be authorized by applicable law.
Consent
Unless required by law or otherwise authorized by applicable law, we will not use or disclose personal information already collected for other purposes unless we obtain the consent of the individual to whom it belongs. When required by law, we will seek consent to use and disclose personal information at the same time as we collect the information. Subject to contractual or legal arrangements, you may withdraw or refuse consent provided that we are given reasonable notice. We will inform you of the consequences of withdrawing your consent, if any.
Unsubscribe Policy
We strive to only send e-mails to those who want to receive it. Algo includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email. If you would not like to receive future e-mails from us, click the unsubscribe hyperlink where you will have a choice to unsubscribe from all or certain types of e-mails.
Collection
We will only collect personal information for the purposes we have identified above and that are reasonable in the circumstances. We will only collect personal information through methods that are lawful, will not collect information indiscriminately, and will try to collect personal information directly from the individual concerned unless authorized by that individual to collect it from a third party or otherwise as permitted by applicable law.
Depending on how you have configured your browser, when you access our Website, a small file – a “cookie” – may be created by our server and stored on your computer. The cookie contains a unique session identification number and is used to:
- keep track of your online order;
- ensure that you see the correct products and pricing applicable to your jurisdiction; and
- personalize your experience by alerting you to features and information that might interest you.
A cookie cannot be used to access or otherwise compromise the data on your device. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but if you prefer, you can edit your browser options to block them in the future. The “Help” portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your computer from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. If you arrive at our Website with your browser configured to disable cookies, you will not be identified until you register and sign-in. Please be advised that cookies may be required to complete certain functions on this Website, such as making purchases or placing orders at our online store.
Aggregate Information
We may also use and disclose aggregated, anonymous, and other non-identifiable data related to our business and the Services for quality control, analytics, research, development, and other purposes. Where we use, disclose, or process de-identified data (data that is no longer reasonably linked or linkable to an identified or identifiable natural person, household, or personal or household device), we will maintain and use the information in de-identified form and not attempt to re-identify the information, except in order to determine whether our de-identification processes are reasonable and adequate pursuant to applicable privacy laws. We use this aggregate information to help diagnose problems with our servers, to administer our Website, and to gather broad demographic information. None of this information contains your personal information. We may also generate non-identifying and aggregate profiles from personal information provided during registration (such as the total number, but not the names, of clients). We may collect aggregated information through the Services, through cookies, and through other means described in this Policy.
Use of IP Addresses
An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you access the internet. Web servers automatically identify your device by its IP address. We may collect IP addresses for the purposes of system administration and to audit the use of our Website. When clients request pages from our Website, our servers log the requesting users’ IP addresses. We normally will not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that a user’s access to our Website will be logged, but the user’s identity remains anonymous to us. We can and will use IP addresses to identify a user when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with our rules, Terms of Service, or applicable Service Agreement, or to protect our Services, Website, or any person, or where it is otherwise authorized or required by law.
Use, Disclosure, and Retention
We will only use or disclose personal information for the purpose(s) for which it was collected. We may disclose the personal information to:
- Our Partners;
- our service providers, licensors, processors, and others who perform functions on our behalf, these may include, for example, hosting and technology providers, call center and customer service vendors, payment processors, analytics providers, consultants, auditors, and legal counsel;
- a person who in our reasonable judgment is seeking the information as an agent of the individual;
- a company or individual engaged by us to perform functions on its behalf, such as research or data processing;
- a credit reporting agency; or
- a public authority or agent of a public authority, if in our reasonable judgment, it appears that there is imminent danger to life or property which could be avoided or minimized by disclosure of the information.
We may also disclose your personal information in the following circumstances:
- In Support of Business Transfers. If we are or may be acquired by, merged with, or invested in by another company, or if any of our assets are or may be transferred to another company, whether as part of a bankruptcy or insolvency proceeding or otherwise, we may disclose or transfer the personal information we have collected from you with or to the other company in accordance with applicable laws. We may also disclose certain personal information as necessary prior to the completion of such a transaction or other corporate transaction such as a financing or restructuring, to lenders, auditors, and third-party advisors, including lawyers and consultants;
- To Meet Compliance and Legal Obligations. We may also disclose personal information to third parties to the extent required by applicable law and legal obligations. For example, we may disclose information in response to subpoenas, court orders, and other lawful requests by regulators, government entities, and law enforcement, or as otherwise required by law or legal process.
- Security and Protection of Rights. Where we believe doing so is necessary to protect Algo, our rights and property, or the rights, property, and safety of others. For example, we may disclose personal information to (i) prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to fraud, unauthorized activities and access, illegal activities, and misuse of the Services, (ii) situations involving potential threats to the health, safety, or legal rights of any person or third party, or (iii) enforce, detect, investigate, and take action in response to violations of our Terms of Service. We may also disclose personal information related to litigation and other legal claims or proceedings in which we are involved, as well as for our internal accounting, auditing, compliance, recordkeeping, and legal functions.
- Other Disclosures. We may disclose personal information in other ways not described above that we notify you of or that we obtain your consent for, or that are otherwise authorized or required by law.
We may use and disclose employee personal information for a variety of purposes related to commencing, managing, or terminating the employment relationship. We do not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease any personal information collected at our Website, including contact forms, download requests or email lists. We will retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes stated above, as required for legal or business purposes or as required by law. Subsequently, we will destroy, erase, or make anonymous such information. However, we will retain for at least one-year personal information that has been used to make a decision about a client, customer, or employee.
Algo retains your personal information for the period of time required to meet the purposes identified in this Policy, except as required or authorized by applicable law, after which time your personal information is securely destroyed.
Accuracy of Personal Information
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure that personal information in our control is accurate and complete. You may request corrections to your personal information. If your request for a correction is rejected by us, we will notify the individual making the request within 30 days, in writing, of the reasons for the refusal and make a notation of such request and rejection on your file or personal information.
Safeguarding Personal Information
We will protect personal information in your control against risks of loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, modification, or destruction by security safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity and format of the information.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is completely secure; as such, despite our safeguards and protocols, we cannot fully guarantee the security of your personal information and you should always exercise caution when disclosing personal information over the internet. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we provide.
Access
Upon reasonable written notice from you, we will, within 30 days or such longer period in the event we obtain an extension, provide access to all your personal information in our possession and tell you what the information is being used for and to whom it has been disclosed. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee for providing access to personal information. If we refuse your request for access, we will notify you in writing, documenting the reasons for refusal, the relevant provision of applicable privacy law on which we rely and resources for redress available to you.
If you are using our Services on behalf of an organization, such as your employer, please note that such organization may be responsible for fulfilling the individual rights requests mentioned above.
Complaints
If you have complaints about how your personal information is being handled by us, you may file a written complaint. Such complaint must clearly state the nature of the dispute and contain all necessary contact information for you. We will acknowledge receipt of a complaint, investigate such complaint, and notify you of the outcome of the complaint, including any relevant steps taken. If a complaint has not been resolved to your satisfaction, you may seek redress with the British Columbia Information and Privacy Commissioner.

We are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of websites to which our Website may link, and our Policy does not apply to those websites. These other websites may send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information. Please keep in mind that whenever you give out personal information online (for example, via message boards or chat lines), that information can be collected and used by people you do not know. While we strive to protect our clients’ personal information, we cannot guarantee and are not responsible for the security of any information you disclose online. You disclose such information at your own risk.

This Policy was last updated on June 11, 2025. We will occasionally update this Policy and revise the “last updated” date appearing in this paragraph.
To ensure that this Policy is up to date and in compliance with applicable laws, we reserve the right to make changes, which will become effective 30 days following our providing notice thereof. If we make any material changes, we will either (i) notify you by email (sent to the email address listed in your account), or (ii) provide a notice on the Services or otherwise through the Services before the change becomes effective. Any change to this Policy will apply to existing information, as well as information collected onwards from the date that this Policy is posted or on the date as specified in the notification, whichever is sooner.
