Smart Communication for Industrial Noise Control
Manufacturing floors are some of the loudest workplaces in the world. Heavy machinery, conveyors, ventilation systems, and vehicle traffic combine to create constant background noise. In this environment, a missed announcement could slow production or, worse, delay a critical safety alert. Clear communication is not optional; it is essential for safety, compliance, and productivity.

The Communication Challenge in Manufacturing
Noise levels change by zone, and teams move between lines, mezzanines, and loading areas throughout a shift. Many workers wear hearing protection or operate equipment at a distance. To work reliably, plant communication must be intelligible above ambient noise, visible where audio is limited, and fast to trigger from familiar tools.
Real floors add more friction. Forklifts and beacons compete for attention. Reverberant surfaces blur speech. Alarms, tones, and radios overlap at peak times. In loud cycles, even trained operators can miss a call unless the message is both heard and seen.
How Algo Cuts Through the Noise?
A single category of device cannot solve all these challenges. Plants need a mix of audible and visual endpoints, so each area gets the right type of alerting without overbuilding the system. This is where Algo’s portfolio matters, with products designed for distinct roles on the factory floor.
Horn Speakers
Algo 8186 SIP Horn Speaker, 8196 IP PoE+ Horn Speaker, and 8197 IP PoE+ Weather-Hardened Horn Speaker deliver clear, high-output paging in wide areas and high-noise environments. These horn speakers are designed for factories and warehouses where reliable, intelligible audio is essential. The 8196 supports up to three 1196 Satellite Horn Speakers to extend coverage from a single PoE+ endpoint. The 8197 is weather hardened for wash down and outdoor use and can power and supervise up to three 1197 Satellite Weather-Hardened Horn Speakers for exposed zones such as docks and yards.
Visual Alerters and Displays
Visual signaling is essential in very loud zones or where hearing protection is common. The 8128 IP Visual Alerter provides high intensity, wide-angle visibility with selectable flash patterns. The 8138 IP Color Visual Alerter adds multi-color patterns for clear safety and process cues. Where text instructions are required, an IP display such as the 8420 IP Dual-Sided Display Speaker can reinforce audio and strobes with readable messages.
Paging Adapters
Many plants still rely on analog amplifiers and speakers in parts of the facility. The 8301 IP Paging Adapter and Scheduler bridges those systems to SIP and automates tones and announcements. The 8305 Multi-Interface IP Paging Adapter adds flexible interfaces for varied legacy tie-ins. The 8373 IP Zone Paging Adapter replaces legacy zone controllers and provides three zone outputs while leveraging multicast for scale.
Operator Console
The 8450 IP Console gives supervisors fast access to live paging and pre-recorded alerts on a customizable 10.1 inch touchscreen, with workflows for events such as evacuation, equipment fault, and shift change.
Safety and Compliance
Combining loud, intelligible audio with high-visibility strobes and displays helps address audibility and visibility expectations common to OSHA and ADA oriented programs. Multiple flash patterns and color options support consistent meanings for drills, evacuations, and process events. This reduces repeat pages and improves response time across the floor.
Integration and Reliability
Algo endpoints register as third-party SIP devices and interoperate with more than 80 UC and mass notification platforms, including Cisco, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, and Singlewire InformaCast. Multicast support enables simultaneous paging across many endpoints without overloading call servers. Devices are engineered for continuous duty in industrial conditions and can be supervised centrally.
What Manufacturers Gain
With a design tailored to each acoustic zone, communication stays consistent at scale. Manufacturers gain confidence that messages reach every corner of the facility. Shift announcements are clear. Emergency alerts are immediate. Production continues without miscommunication.
