Tips for Improving FAX Performance with the 4900 USB ATA
Most problems with intermittent FAX performance when using the 4900 USB ATA are caused by processing delays on the computer when running the IP Softphone 2050.
In general, a faster PC running fewer background applications will perform better. For this reason, it's best to shut down all unnecessary applications and processes.
The following settings in Windows XP may also help improve performance:
- Turn off animation effects as follows: Right-click on a blank area of the Desktop, and select "Display Properties". Next, select the "Appearance" tab, then the "Effects" button, and uncheck all effects.
- Adjust Windows setting for "Best Performance" as follows: Open the Windows "Control Panel", then "System". Select the "Advanced" tab, then "Performance Settings", and select "Adjust for Best Performance".
The opening and closing of the IP Softphone 2050 (or other applications) during a fax may also cause a failure.
