3226 Trunk Port FXO Doorphone

What's New in the 3226 Trunk Port FXO Doorphone

The 3226 Trunk Port FXO Doorphone represents a significant enhancement over the company’s popular 3006 and 3026 Trunk Port Doorphone models.

Here’s a summary of what’s different:

Single Pair Wiring

The new two-wire design from the 3226 Doorphone controller to the digital door station permits easier retrofit installations by allowing installers to re-use the existing single-pair wiring from the doorbell to the door chime. In contrast, older doorphone models (as well as many current competitive models) need more than 2 wires (usually 6). That, in turn, requires new wiring to be run, often at considerable expense in existing buildings.

Works with Algo’s new Digital Door Stations

The 3226 works with Algo’s attractive new digital door stations: 3201 (with brushed stainless steel faceplate), 3202 (with brass faceplate), and the 3203 (Vandal-Proof design).

More Inputs and Outputs

The 3226 controller includes both a dry contact output and a dry contact input. In addition, the 3226 can also work with the dry contact input and output built-in to the digital door stations (3201, 3202, or 3203).

Door Sensing Features

The dry contact inputs on both the 3226 controller and the door station can be used to detect door open status. This can then be used to turn off ringing (such as when a door is opened without answering the telephone) or to trigger an alarm (such as when the door is not closed after a set period of time).

Relay and Power provided for Door Strike

The 3226 has an integrated touch-tone (DTMF) activated door control relay and also provides 24 Vdc / 300 mA power to drive an optional door strike (suitable for most commonly available door strikes). This eliminates the need for an external door control module (such as the 3006 Door Control Module that was required on the 3006) as well as an external power supply for the door strike (as required on the 3026). For any other voltage or higher currents, a separate power supply that matches the selected door strike can still be used.

Easier to Configure

The 3226 can be remotely configured through a touch tone phone (DTMF) or in software via a USB connection with a PC. This contrasts with the 3006 and 3026 which are configurable only through dipswitch settings on the controller.

Improved Audio

The 3226 adds Digital Signal Processing (DSP) speech technology and, through this, now delivers nearly full duplex audio capability. This makes conversing with a visitor more natural and eliminates the “walky-talky” mode of communicating associated with half-duplex systems. DSP also provides echo cancellers and adaptive noise reduction for superior communication in adverse conditions due to weather, traffic, or other background noise. In addition, the digital audio link allows the door station to be located up to 1,000 ft (300 m) away from the controller with no degradation to the audio signal level or quality.

Backlit Call Button

All digital door stations supplied with the 3226 have a backlit call button which maximizes visibility and makes the unit easy to operate. Many older door phones do not have any light indicators, or else they only illuminate after the call button is pressed, both of which can result in the door station being hard to locate in low light situations.

Caller ID

The 3226 adds Caller ID capability, in addition to Distinctive Ring. This allows users another way to easily identify telephone rings as relating to a Doorphone call.
